One of the hardest things to do is focus. Another word used for focus is concentration. Concentration is a skill that requires time to master. It could be strengthened or weakened. This is what make focus so hard. There are so many ways to go off track and lose focus.
3 Key Ideas to Maintaining Focus:
Clearing Distractions
Locating Focus
Execution

Clearing distractions
From the time you wake and go to sleep your mind is flowing. As soon as you wake up, what do you do? The first thing you may do is look at your phone to see if anyone has texted while you were sleep. Phones come with so many features now a days. You might just want to respond to a text but now you see a notification from your favorite YouTuber then a notification from your favorite rapper and it continues from there. Already, you have put your focus on the phone and not even what you are going to do today. This is one of the major distractions people face today.
Now image waking up ignoring your phone. Now your mind is still open. The only thing you are probably thinking about is what you are going to do after getting out of the bed. Instead of putting your first thought on your phone your mind is wondering. Wondering leads to different ideas. This is good because now you have different options. Keep your mind clear so you can maintain the focus. The key is not to limit your mind. Do not wake up and lock your mind into room.

Locating Focus
Once you have let your mind wonder pick a spot. Go at the area with your all your attention. It is important to focus on thing at a time. The mind can only focus on one thing at a time. There is no such thing as multi-tasking. Your brain is not going give the even amount of power to each task. Distinguish your thoughts.
Imagine you have a goal of becoming a copywriter. The goal is to focus on copy-writing & only copy-writing. You cannot become a better writer if you decide to play the video game instead practicing writing. Your focus is not on writing but on the video game. Eventually your focus on writing gets further away. Keep your eyes on the prize

Execution
After you have chosen what you want to focus on then execute. Setting an unachievable goal is not going to help. You lose focus when you are not progressing. You should set up a plan and go by that piece by piece. Use the “Pomodoro Technique”. Go at the task for a certain amount of time then break. Repeat that process. Repeating that process builds your concentration.
Take care of yourself personally. 8 hours of sleep is suggested. The brain needs to rebuild itself from all the mental stress and exercise you put it through during the day.
Mediate, exercise, and eat healthy.
Image an athlete is planning to run 4 miles today. The athlete is running and later feels tired. The runner has three options: A) take a break B) Keep going C) quit. The brain works the same way, but you decide what your brain is going to do. Since the runner is an athlete, he takes a break because they are accustom doing things like that. The athlete does not want to overheat. They know what happens when that happens, and quitting is never an option. A true athlete never thinks like that.
